Monty O'Blivion "Autonomously Yours" LP Out Now!

The debut solo album from Monty O’Blivion is here! KBOR Records is proud to present “Autonomously Yours”, a 7-track album now available on CD and all major streaming platforms!

“Autonomously Yours” is a concept album honing in on the theme of love. Over seven songs, O’Blivion explores the passion, the politics, and the darkness behind the strongest of human emotions. The album opens as a blissful dance of love and devotion, evolving into a social commentary on the patriarchal and possessive nature of the traditional love song, complete with anarchistic rebuttal of those traditional themes in pop culture. Then, the music descends into a morbid recollection of love gone awry. “Eyes Of Glass”, the lone single off the album, is a gothic reflection of a tattered heart, still battling the demons of its past. While “Blunt Force Trauma” is the autobiographical account of a victim of relationship abuse, and the complexities of said relationship. The album closes with “Unchained”, O’Blivion’s dreamy rendition of the classic Righteous Brothers song, reimagined in a style reminiscent of Angelo Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks score. Ultimately, the album becomes a meditation and celebration of true love, delivered in a matured, experimental style that stands in stark contrast to much of O’Blivion’s previous work.

The album was written, performed, recorded, produced and mastered by Monty O’Blivion at KBOR Studios in Los Angeles, CA, and marks the first album produced completely in-house by O’Blivion himself. O’Blivion plays several instruments including guitar, bass, tenor sax, and synth. The original artwork on the album was created by Ethan Scott, artist, designer, writer and singer of legendary Phoenix, AZ band, The Spider Hole, and inspired by teen pulp fiction novels of the '70’s and 80’s. You can find more of Ethan’s work HERE.
